One of the first things you’ll have to do to begin investing in our equity crowdfunding campaign is get signed on to the Equivesto platform. This can take some time if you’ve never done it before, so we’ve gone through and created our own guide of how to navigate the process.

1. Visit our Campaign Page

When you visit our Campaign Page you’ll see the screen above. You’ll want to click (a) “Invest now.” Clicking this button will likely invite you to (b) log in to your account if you haven’t already. If you have not created an account, you should click on (c) “Sign up.” The sign-up process is very quick and will require the following information:

2. Read through the Welcome Page

You’ll notice that (d) Step 1 says this process takes roughly 5 minutes. Please be aware that this process may take a little longer if you have never gone through it before. Once you’ve read through and you’re ready to go, click Next Page.

3. Start the process at Step 1: Company or Individual

At this screen, you need to select whether you are investing as an individual or as a company (a corporate or other legal entity).

You need to indicate that you are an individual by clicking the (d) “This is me” button on the individual panel. Once you have completed that, click Next Page.

4. Fill out your Basic Information

Next you’ll fill out your basic information. Once you have filled in all the required information (as indicated by a red star) you can click Next Page.

5. Verify your Marital Status

Why does Equivesto need your martial status? You can read why at the top of the section, then Select either Yes or No if you are Married or Living Common Law.

If you select No, you can click Next Page. If you select Yes, you’ll need to fill out the following information for your partner. When you have completed the required information for your partner, click Next Page.

6. Information about your Current Employment

From the drop-down menu, select your current employment status. If you choose ANY option other than Employed you do not need to fill out any other information and you can click Next Page.

If you select Employed you will have to fill out the following information. Once you have completed the required information, click Next Page.

7. Provide your Personal Financial Details

In this section of the process, you’ll need to provide 3 key pieces of financial detail: your total income, your net worth and your net financial assets.

These details should help you fill this out as accurately and easily as possible:

(e) Total Income is the Average Total Income over the past two years before taxes. You will need to provide this total as either alone (if your marital status is single) or with a spouse/partner (if your martial status is married/living common law). Remember, you will only need to look at your total income for each of the last two years when you calculate this number.

(f) Net Worth is the sum of everything you own of value (all owned residences and real estate, cars, jewelry – anything of high value) after subtracting all related liabilities, expenses and debts. You will need to provide this total as either alone (if your marital status is single) or with a spouse/partner (if your martial status is married/living common law).

The (g) Net Worth Calculator can be used to help you calculate your net worth as well. All you have to do is answer a short series of questions, provide your email, and your net worth total results will be emailed to you.

(h) Net Financial Assets is the sum of all your financial assets (cash, RRSPs, TFSAs, investment accounts, savings accounts etc. this does NOT include personal residence or real estate) after subtracting all related liabilities, expenses and debts. You can choose to provide this total as your own or you can include your spouse’s assets.

Once you have provided these 3 numbers, you can click Next Page.

8. Your Personal Risk Profile

Carefully read the introduction on this page. This is important for you to understand the risks you take when making an investment on the Equivesto Platform.

Fill in your answers to each question by making the appropriate selection in the drop-down menu.

When making your selection for (j) Risk Tolerance remember that all investments on the Equivesto platform are high risk, which means you would need to select Aggressive to be able to invest. Any other selection will give you a message that reiterates that all investments are high risk and you must be able to tolerate the highest risk category to invest on the platform.

When making your selection for (k) Investment Time Horizon, remember that all investments on the Equivesto platform are not meant to be sold in short time frames. If you make any selection below 3-5 years, you will receive a message reiterating that only investors willing to accept that their investments may not be able to be sold in less than 3 years can invest on the platform.

Once you have selected your answers, click Next Page.

9. Make your Risk Declarations

Read each statement carefully and accept Yes or No to whether you acknowledge and accept each risk.

Once you have selected Yes for each statement, you can click Next Page.

10. Indicate the type of account you will have with Equivesto

There will be 2 options in front of you:

  • Eligible Investor: Unrelated and unaffiliated to TREATSANDTREATS investors
  • Retail Client: Friends and family of TREATSANDTREATS that want to invest

Unless you are unrelated and unaffiliated to TREATSANDTREATS, want to invest more than $5000 and meet one of the criteria under the Eligible Investor account type, you should choose to create a (l) Retail Client account type.

A (m) Retail Investor also known as a Retail Client, is indicated by the description above. Select this account and click Next Page. Since you selected this account type, you will not need to submit any further paperwork and can skip “THE PAPERWORK” part of the process.

11. 3rd Party Determination

Once you have reached the end of the process, you will be asked to verify any 3rd parties involved. If it is just yourself investing on behalf of yourself, select No for the first question and Indicate how you heard about Equivesto. Make sure you have read, understand and agree to the Client Agreement and the Terms and Conditions. Once you have done that, you can check the box and finally click Submit.

Then you’re done!

Oh, and Thank You.

A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up and signed on to the Equivesto Platform thus far. Thanks to everyone who has reached out with their questions and put their trust in the process. We are always available to answer questions, do walk-throughs, and are even looking to set up webinars in the future if that’s of value to our community. It’s been a marathon to get to this point, and we know we’re not done yet.
